Project 3 - Final Submission Links For easier navigation of my work, I have created a list of links to different weekly tasks together with this post. The link should open a new tab. Project 3 - Final Submission Theory "Angular and intersecting forms as a monumental style in modern architecture." The Bridge The bridge located in between three buildings, the Block House, Round House and Square House and provide a focused group of architectural students a new environment to develop their skills and knowledge. The bridge provide access between the Block House and Square House which allow easy access to the workshop as well as the Uni Mall. The Exterior of the bridge consist of black and vegetation panels to create a lively sense to the building. It also act as a good insulation for the building. This is a view of the building and its surrounding from across Anzac Parade. Note that the underside of the bridge is curved to create a streamlined notion, yet the unpolished exterior says otherwise. This is a view of the school from the underside where you will normally walk past when going to the workshop, or getting a drink. Th

Project 3 Week 5/6 - Third Draft Based on the feed back I received last week, I decided to redo my design and based it around an actual bridge like structure. I first started simplifying the section again so that I have a bridge like shape that I can work with. This is the simplified section with two longer sides acting as the bridge. I then started to develop the bridge side first unlike the last two times in which i focused on exterior aesthetic first. However, the school is still going no where as I couldn't get the shape I wanted. And then I started experimenting with Artisan again in hopes of finding a suitable exterior for the school. At last I got a shape that I am interested in developing after lots of trail and error with the shape. Note that the shape on the right was not bent at first but I did it myself to make it looks nicer. In Week 6, I continued developing the design and met some design decisions. First is how the leisure space should be shad

Project 3 Week 4 - Second Draft Other than the textures, I also attempted to create another design for the school. This draft ended up being the draft I brought to the final tutorial in which it was yet again discarded. This time I simplified the section and started extruding different floor base on one of the perspectives drawings done a few weeks back. I then added in some exterior and artificial landscape to experiment with different ideas. The green was supposed to be a man-made hill that cover up the computer lab below and the mixture of black and glass in the middle is supposed to be a gallery. This is the perspective drawing I based the draft on Ultimately, this design was not used to develop further as the feedback from the last tutorial encourages the building to be completely in the air and act like an actual bridge.

Project 3 Week 3 - First Draft This week I started developing my first draft for the school using the sections I created. However, I have yet to want to do yet. Hence, I just played around with the section in SketchUp for a bit. This draft uses the whole section I selected to attempt to create a building. However, as i started to put int a 'skin', an exterior for the building, it all started to go wrong and the end result of the design looks like a chicken head in SketchUp.

Project 3 Week 3 - The Plan I have chosen Zaha Hadid's Vitra fire station plan started developing different sections for the school. The first section I developed is a simple outline of some of the major part of the building. The second section is also done by tracing the outline of the building. However, this time I used some colour to indicate how spaces are allocated. For the third section, I started playing around with different small parts of the section by multiplying them and transforming them. The last section I developed is of a different approach comparing to the others. I created it by tracing out the shadow of the building from the site plan and ended up with a vary interesting shape. I ended up settling with this section and began developing my first SketchUp draft which will be discussed in the next post.
